ABOUT
Dr. Samuel Mungo has been involved in opera as a director, singer and teacher for over 30 years.
Recent professional directing credits include La Traviata for Opera Carolina, Cosí fan tutte for Opera Delaware, and Die Entführung aus dem Serail for Florida Grand Opera. He has directed over 65 productions, for companies and programs large and small.
National awards include twice Opera Production of the Year from the National Opera Association, Best of Baltimore Readers Choice, and Classical Performance of the Year from the San Antonio Express News.
With a national reputation as an opera acting pedagogue, he has presented across the country at national conferences and colleges, including the National Opera Association, NATS, and Classical Singer. As Managing Producer for various organizations, he has commissioned and/or produced three World Premieres, increased every budget in his care, and received numerous external grants.
Dr. Mungo has been faculty at the Peabody Conservatory, Northern Arizona University, Actor’s Studio Drama School, New York University, and Texas State University.
